This page is a record of our walk up the Southern Walkway. This leads from Island Bay in the South, to Oriental Bay near Wellington City Centre. The length of the walk is about 10km, and seemed to keep going up and up! Along the way, there were some stunning views that we've hopefully captured here.

You can just about see a plane coming into land at Wellington Airport in the centre of the picture. This is from near the top of Mount Albert, near to the beginning of the walk
This is takn from the bottom of Mount Albert. Nestled between the hills, you can just about make out the City Centre in the distance.
About two thirds of the way round we walked past the Basin Reserve cricket ground from a great vantage point. The city centre is much nearer now.
This picture is just after the previous picture, but taken in the opposite direction, over the Harbour towards Roseneath. This is just before the climb towards Mount Victoria.
The end of the walk, from the Fisherman's Restaurent in Oriental Bay. This is a popular spot for the locals to come and soak up the rays! We were content to just have a drink and some lunch!
