The NZRB cricket tour to Brisbane started with a departure from Wellington Airport on Wednesday 26th March, 2008. The team arrived in Brisbane early on Wednesday evening and were quickly shuttled to the accommodation in Kangaroo Point where we met up with the final member of our touring party, Brendon Woodhead, who had flown in from Auckland.
The accommodation was incredible, given the expense and once settled in, the tour started apace with drinks at the local Storey Bridge public house.
Sadly, the majority of the tour was to be marred with bad weather, as the long needed rains seemed to settle into Brisbane and water the pitch at the Wynnum-Manly Cricket Club in Tingalpa. This meant that very little play was possible over the weekend, and only three games of cricket out of a total of 8 planned games were completed. Sadly, the New Zealand team was defeated by the eventual winners, New South Wales, by seven wickets.
During the tour though, we were able to take in some of the local attractions, sights and play whatever cricket that we could. Use the following links to track down some of our exploits!Proper Cricket
